Detailed Hydrocarbon Analysis (DHA)
Detailed hydrocarbon analysis (DHA) utilizes ultra-high resolution capillary gas chromatography
to identify the individual hydrocarbon components in spark ignition fuels and other ‘light’
hydrocarbon streams (ex. virgin naphtha, alkylates, FCC gasoline, reformates, or gases and
liquids from the production of propane and butane) as well as mixtures containing oxygenated
additives (ETBE, MTBE, ethanol, methanol, and -1-butanol) with boiling range up to 225°C.
These testing methods are also referred to as PIANO or PONA because they can be used to characterize components by their hydrocarbon compound class (paraffins, isoparaffins, olefins, naphthenes, aromatics and oxygenates).
Our DHA analyzers incorporate the Agilent 7890*, automatic liquid sampler, pre-fractionating inlet(optional), ultra-high resolution column, flame ionization detector, data acquisition system and our Hydrocarbon Expert™ software; a powerful, capability rich software we’ve developed to make peak identification fast, and characterizing components by their compound class straightforward and highly dependable.
